After a long day of airports and a flight all we wanted to do was grab a quick bite and head to the hotel. After 5 minutes of searching we chose black cow.... let me tell you what. For 5 minutes worth of effort it was the best decision I have ever made. The burgers were outstanding, the staff was friendly, drinks were good, and fries were crispy. I will definitely be going back before I head home.
Seriously idk how but this was the best burger I have ever had. And I ate it room temperature an hour after my friend drove back home to give it to me. I think it was something about the way they make their cabbage and pickles, but the meat itself was great too. I truly have never had a burger like theirs and it was only $10.
Best burger in Portland. Maybe even the best burger in New England, now that Craige is (temporarily) closed. The bun/condiments are perfect, too — unlike some places that make up for mediocre patties by piling on crazy toppings, the patties stand on their own and the toppings compliment them perfectly. They unique enough to stand out from other burger joints, but are a great touch that doesn’t detract from or mask the burger, instead bringing out the juiciness and letting it shine. My only gripe is the portion size - the burgers are a little small for the price, but that’s a problem easily remedied with the delicious fries and other sides like fried Brussels sprouts. Also, the cocktails are pretty great, even in to-go form.
